Consistency + Relevancy + Transparency = Success

by | Business

Everybody who runs a small business should be able to define what success looks like.

The reason many can’t get there is that they have vague ideas. They know roughly where they’d like to end up (make more money!), but they have little-to-no idea of how to get there.

Listening to a podcast the other day, I heard the speaker mention this simple formula: Consistency + Relevancy + Transparency = Success

Could it really be that simple? Is that all it takes to be successful in small business?

I’m still exploring this for myself, but I definitely have some thoughts on these ideas.

Be Consistent

What the speaker meant to say here is not hard to understand. The idea is that in order to be seen, you have to show up.

In the Internet Marketing world, there are two groups of people you must please, so to speak: Your potential clients/customers, and search engine developers.

The simple reality is that in order to create that flow of inbound leads to your business, people have to know you are in business! One of the chief ways they come to know this is by searching in their area for the product or service you offer.

It’s your job to make sure Google et al. are aware of you in order to deliver up that information, and the best way to do that is through consistent content creation.

Be Relevant

In other words, meet people where they are!

Developing a unique brand voice that speaks directly to your tribe is paramount, here.

It’s not enough to show up. You have to be communicating something meaningful to people. Something that helps them grow.

Be Transparent

And lastly, you have to be real.

Most people are pretty intuitive and can smell a fake a mile away. Beyond that, most people just want a glimpse into your life.

Business runs the risk of being detrimentally impersonal. One of the best things you can do for your business and marketing efforts is to find a way to attach your unique personality to the brand.

As the saying goes, your vibe attracts your tribe.

Here’s a simple way to think about this. Success = you consistently meeting people where they are.

If you can do that, there’s no telling how high your business might soar.

To your success!
