One thing I am committed to as a business leader is personal development.
For the sake of my faith, my family, and my business, I have come to realize that certain very practical actions—right eating, regular exercise, adequate sleep, et cetera are vitally important and should not go ignored.
When it comes to the subject of eating right, I should state upfront that I am not a medical or nutritional professional, so please do not construe anything I say here to be advice of that nature.
I should also say that I am an advocate for individualized healthcare, meaning, what’s right for you in this area may or may not be right for me, and vice versa.
As for me, I have eaten a ketogenic diet since 2016. I’ve had my times of relapse where I went back to my unhealthy and overindulgent ways, but overall I’ve lost a total of 65 pounds and am in the best shape of my life!
Beyond that, though, as a business leader, there are some serious advantages to deciding on this way of eating. I have experienced at least three.
- Stewardship. The Bible calls us to be stewards—an old word that really means “manager”—of our lives. This includes much more than just a once-yearly financial commitment to church. By managing our health well, we become not merely a willing but also an able vessel to be used by God.
- Focus. I am a motivated person, which means more ideas are floating around in my head than I can give proper attention to. For me, as studies have also shown, my mental focus is greatly improved when eating a clean, ketogenic diet.
- Clarity. Vision is great, but it can be blurry. As business leaders, we need a clear vision; not just any old vision will do. Eating in a way that promotes health in my body is a significant factor on this point. In fact, it’s hard to describe. Perhaps a read through Jimmy Moore and Dr. Eric Westman’s aptly titled Keto Clarity will help.
Again, let me stress that I am not prescribing my preferred way of eating for you.
My goal here is modest: To get you thinking about making some changes in this area to promote positive things for your life and business.
To your success!
